There is a global call for a World Climate March to raise pressure and ambition around the crucial upcoming COP26 talks through a symbolic 2,000-step walk or 1.5 kilometers representing the 1.5-degree Celsius limit targets.

The Panatang Luntian coalition will answer this call with a Philippine Climate March to dramatize the Filipino people’s particular demands especially in the context of the upcoming national elections.

The Philippine Climate March is a nationwide asynchronous walk to demonstrate a groundswell of support for a just and green recovery program amidst the worsening pandemic and climate crises. A central physically distanced march will be held in Quezon City, while decentralized individual or small group-level walks will be crowd-sourced across the country.

Participants will walk a minimum of 2,000 steps, equivalent to 1.5 kilometers that symbolizes the 1.5-degree warming limit target. Participants will register online for organizers to tally the steps.

To visualize the demands of the action, marchers will be wearing uniform dri-fit statement shirts, and will be brandishing the Panatang Luntian gesture to demonstrate the collective endorsement of the 10-point recovery agenda for the upcoming national elections.
